Institutions across the United States are being charged with fixing the nationwide problem of student mistreatment. The Association of American Medical College’s 2015 survey revealed that up to 46% of graduating medical students experienced some form of mistreatment. The specific complaints identified were very broad in scope and degree but these experiences have a far reaching impact on the student’s education and self-esteem. As a coordinator, we are often the first contact when the student reaches out in times where mistreatment exists. The aim of this presentation is to have a candid conversation about hostile environments, discrimination, and gender inequity within the clinical education environment.
