Our Information Mastery curriculum is novel in several aspects:
Four year longitudinal curriculum that layers advanced concepts and skills on previously taught concepts and skills in Information Mastery
Variety of teaching methods including hands on assignments covering pieces of foundational material
Culminating presentation in Information Mastery as part of Family Medicine Clerkship that requires students to develop a Foreground Question based on a patient case seen, locate evidence from appropriate resources, appraise evidence, synthesize the findings, give a Strength of Recommendation, and apply the findings to the point of care question on clinical practice.
Culminating examination in Information Mastery as part of Family Medicine Clerkship that requires students to, during the timed exam, access web-based resources appropriate for a clinical case-based question and answer the question using the located evidence. This is the first examination of its kind.
