The Peer Review Process: Insight from the Editors of Family Medicine Journals

The peer review process is a crucial component to medical publishing. It helps journals to ensure the accuracy and quality of articles published; it helps readers to benefit from clinical content that has been critically reviewed; and it helps reviewers improve analytical thinking and gain insight to the journal submission process. The editors of American Family Physician, Canadian Family Physician, and Family Medicine will discuss their journal review processes. They will discuss similarities and differences between the journals and various article formats. They will share the benefits of becoming a reviewer and key tips on doing a high quality peer review.
