Longitudinal Food Insecurity Screening Curriculum for Medical Students

Food insecurity (FI) is defined as a lack of access to enough food for an active healthy life. At Georgetown University School of Medicine, we sought to determine how a longitudinal FI screening curriculum impacts medical students’ knowledge, attitudes, and behavior in screening for FI. These are key components of our curriculum, which has three components completed over three years.

We created a white-coat pocket-sized informational card with the Hunger Vital Sign screening questions on the front and resources available locally if screening is positive.
